The western most and northern most National Forest in the United States, the 5.5 million-acre Chugach National Forest is represented by three ranger districts. The Glacier Ranger District includes most of western Prince William Sound. Its office is located in Girdwood, 35 miles southeast of Anchorage along the Seward Highway. Home to the world famous Copper River Wild Salmon, the 2.3 million-acre Cordova District is a commercial fishing community located between the Cooper River Delta and the southeastern end of Prince William Sound, 140 miles east of Anchorage. The Seward Ranger District is the western most 890,000 acres of the Forest. Seward is 135 miles southeast of Anchorage along the scenic All-American Seward Highway.
