Wasilla's first museum, the Dorothy G. Page Museum was established to "identify, collect, preserve, research, interpret and exhibit the cultural and historical heritage of Wasilla, Knik and Willow Creek areas." The Dorothy Page Museum also owns Wasilla’s first school, which is located in the Historic Town Site. The 1917 one room school house and museum buildings, including the Herning-Teeland-Mead house, Paddy Marion cabin, Shorty Gustafson barn, a sauna bath house and the Capitol Site building, are National Historic Landmarks.
