The Edith Newman Memorial Museum features information on the heritage of Waterloo, one of Alabama’s oldest incorporated towns, Native American artifacts, and Civil War relics. Waterloo's rich history includes being a stop along the Trail of Tears in 1838, being burned during the Civil War, and having a visit by U. S. General William Sherman. This home was the site of the largest cavalry force ever amassed in the Western Hemisphere.
