Located on the Tombigbee River, two miles northwest of St. Stephens, Alabama, St. Stephens Historical Park is the original site of Alabama's Territorial Capital. Before statehood in 1819, St. Stephens was the site of the circa 1811 Washington Academy, circa 1818 Tombeckbee Bank, and the building of the first steamboat in Alabama in 1819. Guests enjoy such activities as fishing, camping, biking, bird watching, sightseeing, picnicking, horseback riding, and hiking.
