One of the most significant Native American archaeological sites in the United States, Moundville was a large settlement of Mississippian culture on the Black Warrior River in central Alabama that was occupied from around A.D. 1000 until A.D. 1450. Archaeological Park includes more than 200 artifacts, life-size figures displaying the clothing and jewelry of Mississippian cultures, ceremonial feather decorations hand-sewn by Native-American artists, pottery, other artworks, and more.
