Winner of the Fodors Choice Award 3 times - 2006, 2008, 2009. Voted Top Choice establishment to stay. Set in a historic brick school, built in 1918 at the height of Bisbee's mining days, the School House Inn Bed & Breakfast is a relaxing if not educational place to stay when in the area. Located one mile west of downtown Old Bisbee in the quiet residential area, the Inn is surrounded by lush green hills and quaint colorful homes. Originally built as Garfield School for grades one through four, the school was converted to apartments in the late thirties and in 1989; it became a bed and breakfast. The original blueprints for the school are displayed in the stairway, which leads to the ten very spacious rooms.
In keeping with its educational days, every room has a school theme. Everyone loves the Principal's Office Suite, the Art Room, the Geography Room and many others. Who would have thought that school could be this much fun. You can even sleep in class! This is a five star bed and breakfast. At the front entrance are 3 award proclamations stating "Fodor's Choice - one of the world's top establishments selected by the most discerning travel experts". Also, every room has a composition book with guest comments covering everything from hospitality to the incredible flowers and greenery surrounding the big patio. The entries are heartfelt and genuine.
Also, several heartfelt reviews have been showing up on the internet at a site called Trip Advisor. This site is worth checking into, because it will give all travelers a good idea if the accommodations are worthy.
The School House Inn images on their own website only show a quick "sneak peek" of the rooms as well as the dining and lounge areas because the impact of seeing everything first hand is almost overwhelming.
Several "time tested" breakfast ensembles are rotated throughout the week. If you browse through the composition books in the rooms you will read impressive reports on the Southwestern Quiche, Deluxe French Toast, Baked Eggs Perfectamente, or Cinnamon Pancakes with Berries (just like grandma used to make).
All in all, this is fun place to stay. Practically everyone gets the giggles when exploring the halls and rooms. There are lots of school time artifacts and childhood memories. You could plan a whole day just exploring!
For all the hard working folks around the globe, especially teachers, you will find the School House Inn to be a treat! A phone call will make your trip worthwhile.
