The only lodging facility below the Canyon rim, Phantom Ranch is beside Bright Angel Creek on the north side of the Colorado River and can only be reached by mule, foot, or by rafting the Colorado River. Open year-round, Phantom Ranch's rustic cabins and main lodge were built of wood and native stone. Its 11 unique cabins are each furnished with a set of bunk beds. The dormitories for men and women come complete with bunk beds, showers, and restrooms. Meals, beverages, and sundries are available at the Phantom Ranch Canteen. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for Phantom Ranch.
