Since I have taken an immense liking to Catalina Island, last weekend for the Labor Day holiday, I decided to take the family for a vacation to Avalon for a 2 night stay. Overall, we had a good time and we did enjoy spending time on the Island again. However, I am writing to report a very unpleasant experience we had the first night of our stay at Glenmore Plaza hotel.

First, the management misrepresented the size of the 2-bed room suite we had rented for 2 nights. Second, the service is really poor

I have several issues from Spring 1948. I guess you may have the same archived copies, too? If not, I'd be happy to bring them with me when I visit this June 2011. I lived on the island, as a child in 1948-49, in the St. Catherine and on a street whose name I don't know.

Nice newspaper. Love Catalina and Avalon. I am looking for family of a Viet Nam Vet from Avalon. Scott Lee Langin who was born Dec 28, 1948, Died: Oct 23, 2008. An old Army friend has some pictures of him he would like to forward to his family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Scott Langin died quite awhile ago. There is only one family member left, Kathy Langin, and I do not know her marrried name or how to find her. sorry.
I worked for Dorothy Langin when they had the Catalina Island Dept. Store in the 60's. I knew all the family well. Larry, the father, died before Scott. Dorothy died in the 1960's and I think Scott died in the 1990's. His brother also passed away on the Island in the 1970's or 1980's. They were all good people.

To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to know if you had any records or information of a rescue mission done by the USS Pigeon ASR-21 of a crashed helicopter during the timeframe of 1989,1990 or 1991.
