Open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., this beach is popular with families and it serves as the training facility for all California State lifeguards. During the summer months, surfing is not permitted in order to make it safer and more enjoyable for swimmers, bodysurfers, and bodyboarders. A nature preserve is located at the southern end of the beach, which located between Beach Boulevard and the Santa Ana River near Newport Beach.
