A classic example of mid-19th-century Greek Revival architecture, the Whaley House is shown how it would have looked from 1868 to 1871, when the Whaley House was the Whaley family residence, San Diego's first commercial theater, the county courthouse and the Whaley and Crosthwaite General Store. The Whaley House Complex includes the Whaley House Museum, historic Verna House, an 1870's French Mansard; two false front store buildings, which house the New Orleans Creole Café; a replica 19th-century rustic gazebo, and the historic, circa 1850 Derby-Pendleton House. The Whaley House is open year-round.
