Ouray County Museum 420 Sixth Avenue, Ouray, CO 81427, 970-325-4576, The Museum is housed in the original St. Joeseph's Miners' Hospital that was built in 1886 and finished in 1887. There are three floors containing exhibits in twenty-seven rooms. Smaller displays are located in hall cases, alcoves and the original hospital dumb waiters. You will see the equipment used in mining, the rich silver veins and other mineral deposits. The stopes, declines, crosscuts, run-a-rounds and drifts will be fully explained.
