Bishop Castle (circa 1969) 982 Highway 165, Pueblo, CO 81003, 719-485-3040, Be sure to visit this unforgettable castle that's in the pocess of being built by one man, Jim Bishop. Decorated with beautiful ornamental iron, the castle is built out of handhewn stone in a dramatic Medieval style and stands three full stories high. Features include a grand ball room, stained glass windows, and a "fire breathing dragon." Open daily with your best chance of seeing the builder in action on the weekends. There are no guided tours - you're on your own, but do remember to be careful - this is a construction site. A gift shop is open May through October. |
