It was here that Governor Jonathan Trumbull convened over 1,100 meetings of the Council of Safety to deal with the defense of the colony of Connecticut and to supply provisions to the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. General Knox, Putnam, the Count de Rochambeau, George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette were just some of the figures that participated in the work done here. Owned by the Sons of the American Revolution, the Revolutionary War Office is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
