    Dedicated to protecting the last remaining portion of the unique Northern Everglades and the endangered species who live there, this 147, 392 acre refuge protects species such as the snail kite wood stork, the American alligator, and red-bellied turtles. The refuge is comprised of five different habitat types that include tree islands, wet prairies, sloughs, saw grass communities, and the largest remnant of a cypress swamp in Palm Beach County.
