Developed and operated by the North Florida Botanical Society, the 62-acre Kanapaha Botanical Gardens consists of 14 major collections, the state's largest public display of bamboos, and the largest herb garden in the Southeast. Kanapaha is the host of the Annual Spring Garden Festival, the region's premier horticultural event; and the Annual Winter Bamboo Sale.

For anyone that has never had the chance to visit the gardens, I highly recommend going in the springtime. Though the gardens have plenty to offer during the cooler/colder months (such as nice walks w/ plenty of scenery, fewer crowds and tons of room for your kiddies to burn off some energy...) the majority of the garden collections there are w/o flowers that time of year. I just took a trip there in early December and though the weather was nice and there is beautiful, lush green vegetation everywhere, it was still kind of a bummer to not see all of the flowers that will be there in warmer months :)
