Lignumvitae Key State Botanical Site

Islamorada, FL 33036

website

One of the loveliest and most mysterious islands in the Florida Keys, this 333 acre state botanical site is only accessible by a state tour boat which leaves from Indian Key Fill at Mile Marker 79.5 on US Highway 1. There is evidence of an Indian burial site and a refuse mound on the south edge of the island and visitors to the island will see rock walls that extend about 3,000 feet on the west end of the islands; who built these walls is still a mystery.
