Built by the army in 1862 to protect Zachary Taylor from Confederate attack, this Civil War fort is now a museum filled with artifacts and displays of Florida Keys history, as well as military memorabilia. An 80 year old playhouse in the garden shows children how kids lived and played in old Key West and the largest collections of painted wood carvings and drawings by Mario Sanchez in Florida are located in the galleries.
