A National Landmark with a colorful history beginning in 1528 when Panfilo de Narvaez arrived in the area with 300 men, San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park features a museum that explains the history of the San Marcos site and contains displays of pottery and tools which were unearthed near the original fort.
