At Westchase Veterinary, we understand the need for partnerships between rescue organizations and veterinary hospitals. That is why we have partnered with four groups in our area: Greyhound Pets of America, Bay Area Greyhounds, St Francis Society Animal Rescue, Pug Rescue of Florida, and On the Wings of Angels Rescue. All of these groups are non-profit, charitable organizations run by volunteers that strive to provide medical care and homes for animals in need.
In 2004 Westchase Veterinary Center and Emergency first opened their doors to the Westchase and surrounding communities. Originally located on the corner of Racetrack and Countryway in Westchase, we saw our first patient before our exam room even had doors. Our Doctors had been working in the field for over 14 years when the clinic opened, and they were ready to start practicing high quality medicine, efficiently, compassionately, and fairly. Our motto then and for always has been to take care of both pets and their people.
After a few years, we outgrew our small office and moved to our current, larger location at Linebaugh and Countryway in July 2006. As we continued to grow, renovations took place again in 2011. At that time we went up, adding doctors’ offices on our second floor so that we could utilize what had formally been the office as a digital radiology/ultrasound suite.
Westchase Veterinary is home to six outstanding veterinarians, each bringing something special to the Westchase area. Our mission is to provide our clients with the most state of the art veterinary medicine available. Our medical director is Dr. Tamara Berlin. Our associate veterinarians are Dr. Nichole Reyes, Dr. Frank Bonsack, board certified surgeon, Dr. Colby Burns, certified acupuncture and holistic veterinarian, Dr. Vindhya Cianelli, and our newest associate, Dr. Molly Barr.
As these doctors joined our team, we were able to extend our hours to Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Dr. Bonsack’s addition has enabled us to treat your small mammals, such as Guinea pigs, rabbits, and hamsters, and other exotic species such as lizards, amphibians, and birds. He has also allowed the opportunity to offer our clients canine chiropractic exams and the option of having their pets seen during a house call. Dr. Colby Burns’ addition as a board certified surgeon has allowed us to offer our clients orthopedic, advanced orthopedic, and advanced soft tissue surgery. Our clients can now have these procedures done here at Westchase, where we know their pets best, rather than being sent out for a referral at a specialty clinic. Dr. Vindhya Cianelli’s addition has opened up a whole new field of veterinary medicine to us. With her addition we can now offer to our clients Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Therapy, Food Therapy, and Reiki. She has special interests in musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis/weakness, cancer, skin problems, allergies, and palliative therapies. The most recent addition to our clinic is Dr. Molly Barr. Her addition allows us to have another veterinarian available to be able to see and treat your furry friends.
