Allatoona Pass Battlefield
Cartersville, GA 30120
770-387-1357
One of the most intact Civil War battle sites in the nation, this battle was fought on Oct. 5, 1864, and was the first of the Nashville Campaign. The battle is rich both in myth and legend and is one of the most dramatic and tragic episodes of the Civil War. It was also the inspiration for the familiar hymn by Evangelist Peter Bliss, "Hold the Fort." An interpreted trail is on site.
