Designed by Georgia architect J.J. Baldwin in an early 20th century Neoclassical design, this courthouse is one of the most beautiful architectural designs for county government operations in Southeast Georgia and is the first and only courthouse in Evans County.

The above is not quite accurate. The current courthouse, built by J.J. Balwdin is the first building built specifically as a courthouse. However, prior to finishing the courthouse government functions were taken care of in a three-story building built by Mr. R. King White and later bought by Mrs. Ben Daniel. Her husband, Dr. Daniel, used the building as a doctor's office. Now, it's an electronics store. This building was, and is, considered the first court house.
