Haralson Mill Covered Bridge Located on Haralson Mill Road, 770-785-5922, The first bridge of its kind to be built in the State of Georgia since the late 1890s, this covered wooden bridge replaces a historic ford and emulates a covered bridge design similar to the 1820s era Town Lattice Truss design patented by Connecticut architect Ithiel Town. The bridge is surrounded by the Haralson Mill House, a general store, the old mill site, and a blacksmith shop.


Historic Homes & Buildings

Conyers Depot (circa 1891) Located at Main & Railroad Streets, 770-602-2606, One of the favorite downtown tourist attractions, this Conyers landmark was a working depot until 1972 when passenger rail service between Atlanta and Augusta was stopped. The historic depot is today used for meetings, weddings, and receptions and is maintained by the Rockdale County Historical Society.

Monastery of the Holy Ghost 2625 Highway 212 Southwest, Conyers, GA 30094, 770-483-8705, Since the late 1940s, Benedictine Trappist monks have dwelt and prayed in this cloistered sanctuary that consists of Spanish Gothic style buildings. more... map

Dinky, The (circa 1905) Located Next to Conyers Depot, 770-602-2606, One of only three of its kind in the world, this Rogers Steam Locomotive ran service between Conyers and the neighboring mill town of Milstead until 1961. The engine was used to haul cotton from the main line to the textile mills.

Lewis Vaughn Botanical Gardens Main, Center, Commercial & Railroad Streets, 770-602-2606, Nestled on over an acre, these botanical gardens offer examples of native plants of Georgia's Piedmont region and features a pond which is fed by the downtown water tower which was built in 1900. A Pavilion is adjacent to the gardens which hosts many community events and activities throughout the year.

Pine Log Park 1451 Pine Log Road, Conyers, GA 30094, 770-761-3058, Situated on almost 14 scenic acres, this park features six lighted tennis courts, a one mile nature trail, a fitness trail, two children's playgrounds, an outdoor basketball court, a covered picnic pavilion, and picnic tables and grills. map
