These two national forests offer a wide range of recreational opportunities including winding hiking trails through scenic mountains and rolling hills, camping, canoeing, white water rafting, picnicking, ATV trails, horseback riding, gold panning, fishing, and scenic byways. The Chattahoochee National Forest covers almost 750,000 acres while the Oconee National Forest covers over 115,000 acres. The famous 2,135 mile Appalachian Trail begins at this location.
