Depicting the lifestyle of middle class merchants in the 1850s, this Greek Revival style house was built by William Root, one of Marietta’s earliest merchants and its first druggist. A beautiful garden is on site which reflects the gardening practices of the mid-19th century, as well as outbuildings of the time and a gift shop on the first floor. Volunteer docents tell the story of the house, the Root family, and life in Marietta in the 1850s.
