The oldest public art museum in the South, Telfair Museums includes the Telfair Academy, Owens-Thomas House and the contemporary Jepson Center. The Regency-style Telfair Academy (121 Barnard Street) houses 19th and 20th century American and European art. Considered one of the finest examples of English Regency architecture in the United States, the Owens-Thomas House (124 Abercorn Street) features decorative art ranging from the late 18th to the early 19th century. The site also includes rare intact urban slave quarters and a parterre garden. The Jepson Center, designed by the internationally acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie, is devoted to the art of today. It is located at 207 West York Street.
