  • McIntosh Sugar Mill Ruins
    Located on Spur 40

    Built by John Houston McIntosh at New Canaan Plantation soon after 1825, this sugar mill contained the first horizontal cane mill worked by cattle power and the mill was later used as a starch factory during the Civil War.  map

  • Oak Grove Cemetery
    Located at Bartlett and Weed Streets

    Graves of veterans representing every war are buried at this cemetery that was established in 1788. The cemetery is divided into three main sections: the old white section, the old black section, and, towards the back, the "new" section. The earliest marked grave is from 1801.  map
