The home of Robert Toombs, a successful planter and lawyer who became a state legislator, U.S. Congressman, and Senator. After Georgia seceded from the Union, Toombs became a secessionist, serving five months as Confederate Secretary of State before resigning to serve as brigadier general in the Army of Northern Virginia. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
