One of the most beautiful cemeteries in the nation, this National Register cemetery was begun in 1857 and is the final resting place for more than 20,000 people who have shaped Rome's history. First Lady Ellen Axson Wilson, wife of President Woodrow Wilson, is buried at this cemetery, as well as the young man selected as the "Known Soldier" from World War I and 377 soldiers who died in Civil War battles around Rome.
