The former Italian Villa-style home of Mathias Ham, one of Dubuque's earliest entrepreneurs, the John F. Rague- designed Ham House is filled with elegant American and European furnishings. The home is owned by the Dubuque County Historical Society and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. An 1833 settler's log cabin, Iowa's oldest building, is also located at the site.
