The only arboretum and botanical garden in the United States staffed entirely by volunteers, the 52-acre Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens was established in 1980 and continues to grow with the help of more than 300 individuals who maintain the trees, plants, shrubs and seed-gifts, which are all labeled throughout the garden.
