A site on the national Lewis and Clark Historical Trail, the 1,254-acre Waubonsie State Park is situated six miles east of the Riverton Wildlife Area and six miles north of Sidney in the Loess Hills Valley. Named for Chief Waubonsie of the Native American Pottawattamie tribe, Waubonsie State Park contains 40 campsites, 24 with electrical hookups; an equestrian campground with 32 campsites, seven miles of foot trails, eight miles of equestrian trails, and an open picnic shelter.
