The drinks are on ice, the food is on the fire, and the music is ready to rock, so get set to dance down to the streets of Downtown Alton to celebrate the summer Alton Block Party season. The Alton Block Parties, presented by the Alton Marketplace Association and sponsored by Dixon Distributing, run from May through October on the last Saturday of each month from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. when Downtown Alton closes Third Street between Piasa and State Streets and the party begins with bands at both ends of the street. 2005 Block Party Schedule: Saturday, July 30 - Parrothead Party featuring The Phins Saturday, August 27 - Summer Nights featuring Sable Saturday, September 24 - Hot! Hot! Hot! featuring Mr. Wizard
