Founded in 1879, The Art Institute of Chicago houses a collection spanning 5,000 years of artistic expression in medias such as paintings, prints and drawings, sculptures, photographs, videos, textiles, and architectural drawings and fragments during year round exhibits. The museum is also host to lectures, workshops, and performances throughout the year.
