Part of a 57-acre lakefront museum campus that includes the John G. Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium, near Soldier Field, the Charter One Pavilion and Grant Park; the Field Museum was founded to house the biological and anthropological collections assembled for the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. Its collections of more than twenty million specimens have been amassed through world-wide expeditions, exchange, purchase, and gifts. The Field Museum has four gift stores.
