Purviance House is (was?) a quaint old historic house decorated with various unique items throughout. I rented an apartment across the street and was given the keys to Purviance House for 3 months to watch TV and enjoy the house. At that time Mr. and Mrs Purviance ran the house (and my apartment). They were a very wonderful old couple. It was a very cool summer that year (1991) and I really enjoyed the Huntington area. I did not have any meals at the house but did wander all through the house. If I ever have reason to visit Huntington again, that will be my choice of housing.

I thought that the business had been founded by Jean Gernand, then a Huntington teacher.

This is not the Samuel Purviance House? I know it is located on S. Jefferson too. The Samuel Purviance house turned into the Elizabeth's Tea Room and I love going there for lunch.
