On a famiy trip to Metropolis, IL we decided to stay in one of Paducah's many excellent accomodations and to visit the Tilghman Civil War Museum to look up any available information on my 2x great grandfather, Sgt Robert Walker Jump, 17th Kentucky Cavalry. Met one of the most interesting tour guide and storyteller who kept us spellbound as we held him captive for the next hour, regaling us of the history of the home and the Civil War history of Paducah. We also learned that the fireplace in the Tilghman home came from another home but was known to be the mantle piece that my 2x great grandfather may have hitched his horses to indoors to keep the Confederates from stealing them. Great time was had by all!!!!
