Constructed from moss and mud by John Joyce of Fort Mobile on an Indian mound, the French Creole-style Magnolia Mound, owned by the Foundation for Historical Louisiana, features hand carved woodwork and heavy planked floors and is one of the oldest surviving frame structures in Baton Rouge. It features a collection of furnishings and decorative arts. Structures on the property include the main house, a carriage house, an overseer's house, open-hearth kitchen, a quarter house, and a crop garden.
