Known as "the Sugar Palace," this magnificent Greek Revival and French Provincial-style home takes its name from the Houmas Indians of the area and is surrounded by romantic, colorful gardens. Once the home of the nation's leading sugar cane producer before the Civil War, John Burnside, the mansion's 23 rooms are filled with period antiques and furnishings. Latil's Landing Restaurant is located within the property. Houmas House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
