As circumstances beyond control can happen, fortunes led me to your fair city Thursday last. The two young ladies in your museum could not have been nice. Although closing time was near for the gentleman out at Camp Moore by the time I made it out, he could not have been nicer. If closing time was four, he continued to answer my most all of my questions until at least four thirty or longer. It was I that left first. Camp Moore is a Southern National treasure that needs to be preserved. As I was leaving I asked about books available for purchase and mentioned l love books. Really all books but especially very old limited edition books that are almost one of a kind. That opened up another fifteen minutes of him showing the private library that this museum owns. Again, what a treasure out there. Camp Moore is privately maintained and operated and they do a great job. If you are near, look it up. Now back to Amite City museum. There was a very nice exhibit about cotton, cotton gins, etc. on display and it particularly interested me because I grew up in the cotton fields of North Central Richland Parish. I'll be back to Camp Moore and I'll return to this museum also. I missed a few pictures because of time restraints. What a luxury to travel at a leisurely pace and leave room for places like this. Ten star rating...
