Home of Kate Chopin, the renowned writer of Creole short stories who is best known for her story "The Awakening." This magnificent home, a National Historic Landmark, is filled with period furnishings and displays that depict the history of the Cane River Country. A reconditioned blacksmith shop and doctor's office are also on site. The home is open daily for tours.
