"The symbol of New Spain in Louisiana", this 14 acre historic site is located on the El Camino Real and is one of the most intriguing State Historic Sites in Louisiana. This site was also once the capital of Texas and the remains of a Spanish fort built during the period to protect Texas from the French is on site. A historic trail leads to the old mission site and many interpretive programs are available.
