As accommodation it's a pretty basic budget motel. But it has a beautiful garden out back beside the Bayou Teche, and the couple who run it are very friendly and helpful. If you're a fan of James Lee Burke's Dave Robichaud novels, the Teche is where Clete stays when he's in New Iberia. I really enjoyed my stay.

Don't miss Victor's Cafeteria on Main Street while you're in New Iberia, including the "Dave eats here" display on the wall. I reread Jolie Blon after my visit and it was wonderful how much richer it was after seeing the town and environs. I am enough of a fan that I specifically planned my Texas to Florida bicycle tour to include New Iberia. I suspect I'll end up rereading a lot of the Robicheaux novels now. Have fun, Don.
