This settlement was instrumental in the War of 1812 and was fortified in the 1820's to protect New Orleans from foreign invasion. The Southern Army held at Fort Pike until the fall of New Orleans late in the Civil War. After browsing through the museum and historic building, visitors can stroll through the arched casements and overlook the Rigolets just as the sentries once did. You will enjoy outdoor exhibits, picnic areas, and special events at this historic site.
