What I heard is that it was originally CALLED cltiame change,' somebody in the media dubbed it global warming,' and because it was catchy and people could easily grasp the concept, the name became popular and stuck.I don't know if that is true or not, nor do I have the link or any reference as to where I heard it. I do have original magazine articles about cltiame change' back into the 70s and 80s and even in those articles it seems (iirc) that global warming' was how it was being described then or at least interchangably with cltiame change. We're getting heavier snowfall here in Minnesota than in the last ten or so years, it is colder than it has been for December the last few years and last spring it was cooler into June than it has been in recent memory, but in my lifetime the snow and cold season is typically starting about a month later and ending ummm, just a guess, not quite a month earlier. My observations don't prove anything one way or another but I am in a rural, farming area and the growing season is longer now than it used to be. I think there is a long term cltiame shift in the works but I don't make any particular judgements about what is responsible for it or what the outcome will be-but I do believe we are going to have to adapt regionally to what is a gobal phenomenon. For people like me who believe that something' is going on with the cltiame but are waiting for scientific research and study to continue, improve and ultimately provide us with more facts, cltiame change' doesn't imply as much as global warming' does, so I like the term better myself.Regardless of the outcome, I am a very stong believer in alternative energy and lessening our dependence on fossil fuels for environmental reasons, long-term economic stability, and sustainability of a massive human global population. Since alternative energy and lessening dependence on fossil fuels is one of the primary goals of the global warming (and AGW) contingent, I empathize and support their outlook a lot more than I do the skeptics. But I am not in favor of alarmism or the position(s) of the deniers, neither side of that extreme coin has fact or logic on their side.
