North Rampart Street
New Orleans, LA 70130
504-589-3865
This famous park, which includes an extensive water garden that focuses upon a larger-than-life-sized statue of Armstrong, was one of the birthplaces of jazz and used to be a gathering place for slaves. The park contains the municipal auditorium, the Theatre of the Performing Arts, and Congo Square, where African slaves and freedmen gathered to speak their language and enjoy their own music.
