New Orleans' oldest fine arts institution, the New Orleans Museum of Art's collection of more than 40,000 objects includes French and American art, photography, glass, African and Japanese works and more. 18th and 19th century furniture and decorative arts, objects from the great Mayan culture of Mexico and Central America, 20th century American drawings and prints, photography collection of more than 7,000 images, paintings and sculptures by Picasso, Braque, Dufy and Miro, valuable ancient terra cottas from the kingdoms and cultures of Nok, Sokoto, Benin, Akan, Djenne and Bankoni, and more can be discovered at NOMA. One of the most important sculpture installations in the United States, NOMA's five-acre Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden contains 50 sculptures.
