Pontalba Building

(circa 1849)
St. Peter & St. Ann Streets
New Orleans, LA 70116
504-568-6968

These apartment houses were built by the Baroness Micaela Pontalba to beautify the square and leave a European influence in the city. Cast iron was introduced to New Orleans in these buildings and soon replaced the handwrought iron that was previously used. The buildings are now used for shops, offices and apartments.
