Nestled in a beautiful 100-acre state park, the three-story, Federal-style Oakley House is most noted for its famous resident, John James Audubon. After arriving in 1821, to tutor the owners of Oakley, Audubon painted more than 80 birds in his "Birds of America" series in this area. Oakley House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
