Designed by Boston architect Isaiah Rogers in 1833, this Greek Revival mansion was the home of Captain Robert Bennet Forbes, an internationally known China Trade merchant, ship owner, designer, writer, and philanthropist. A National Historic Landmark, this home was restored to the period of the early 1870's when it was remodeled by Peabody & Sterns. Established in 1984, the Forbes House Charitable Trust helps to ensure the preservation of the house, collections, and grounds. Tours, lectures, programs, and special exhibitions and events are available throughout the year. The museum contains an extensive collection of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia.
