Situated on the Central Wharf in Boston, this aquarium features over two thousand species of exotic fish, sharks, sea turtles, a penguin colony, sea lion shows, and a hands-on tide pool exhibit; in addition to the many interesting and informative travelling exhibits and permanent collections, the aquarium plays an important role in the area of science and research, with programs in conservation, animal rescue and preservation, a lecture series, and educational programs for both adults and children.
